Open May through September
The Clare County Historical Complex, including the museum, Dover School, blacksmith shop, and log cabins, is open Saturdays of May through September from 1 – 4 p.m.
The site is located at the corner of Dover and Eberhart roads northeast of Clare. It’s a great place to learn about local history such as Spikehorn Meyers, Isaiah Leebove, the Ott family, and much more. Find out why gangsters visited Clare County and why a few even settled here! You might even get a chance to learn a bit of blacksmithing at our forge.
The historic Bell-Knapp Cabin was moved, restored, and received a dedication ceremony in 2024. Learn more by viewing our newsletter. Photos of the work are on the project page.
Also, visit our Facebook page and the rest of this site to view photos and learn more about Clare County’s history.
